"Cry for Peace"

"Cry for Peace" was inspired by the events of 9/11, Debora Gillman responded by creating art. According to Gillman, "Arts are healing, both in the doing and the sharing." The "Cry for Piece was entered into the  2002 Art in the Park Tallest Art Show in L.A. Competition and was selected and exhibited in Los Angeles. This work was the first in the series of works she produced as a call for "the obvious need for peace in the world."

"A Cry for Peace" interprets the universal symbol for peace, a dove with an olive branch. Below the eye of the dove is a silver tear in the shape of another dove. She chose to   feature several colors representing the beauty of diversity and difference, of people coming together. The dual symbolism and title of the piece gives depth of meaning to make this striking combination of shape an color a powerful art piece.
