On
July 4th 2006 a
coalition of organizations will Salute Los Angeles as
the "Creative Capital of the World©" and pay tribute to
the City, its history, its culture and its people with
a multicultural intergenerational celebration which
includes a parade, historical reenactments, awards,
vendors, booths, and much more.
Los
Angeles hosts a diverse array of creative industries,
covering music, television, film, dance, entertainment,
publishing, art, fashion, theatres and many
others. It is a place which is consistently on the
cutting edge of unfettered entrepreneurship and
imagination. It is a melting pot of cultural diversity
rich with creative talent and unlimited potential. It is
a world symbol of creativity and innovation providing an
inspiration to the world. It is rich with history with a
destiny yet to be determined. Los Angeles is truly a
star unto itself and a guiding light for the world. It
is the dream maker that keeps the dream alive. It is the
Creative Capital of the World. It is a
CAN DO city making
dreams a reality. Two Time Oscar Nominee Carol Connors
(pictured above) says "There's A Winner in You."
On July 4th 2006, the
Fort Moore Memorial Committee will lead an effort to unite the
communities, industries, media, government, arts, and others to celebrate
Los Angeles Independence Day, its history and its people in a Salute to
Los Angeles. A component of this tribute to Los Angeles history and
cultural diversity will be a recognition that Los Angeles is the "Creative
Capital of the World."
Mayor
Antonio Villaraigosa says, "Dream with me."
The July 4th Salute to
Los Angeles as the Creative Capital of the World and the
invitation of
Mayor
Antonio Villaraigosa to
dream with him has the
potential
to become the biggest and most important event on July 4th
in the City of Los Angeles.
On 2006 July 4th
this event of unity, cultural diversity and tribute will
occur. It will be the biggest event in downtown Los
Angeles on July 4th. No date, place or event could have
more meaning or potential impact.
We Salute Los Angeles in honor of its history, art, culture, and people.
It will be the
the Fort Moore Memorial Committee's 15 Annual Independence
Day celebration.
This tribute to Los Angeles, its history and its people,
seeks to draw from the many and diverse cultures that live
in Los Angeles to provide an entertaining day of learning
and excitement for the whole family.
In
June 2003, then
LA City Councilmember, 14th District,
Antonio Villaraigosa said the following regarding the
July 4th 2003 event:
| "This 4th of July I am proud to
join the Fort Moore Memorial Committee in commemorating
the 156th Anniversary of the first Independence
Day Celebration
in Los Angeles. As we reflect on the world events of
the past two years, we are reminded of how precious our
liberty is both here in America and abroad."
|
Former Mayor James Hahn once said:
"Los Angeles is strong, optimistic and full of the
kind of challenges that create opportunity. Indeed,
Los Angeles is undisputedly the creative capital of
the world, home to the world's most cutting-edge
companies, people, and trends." |

Moore Memorial Committee's July 4th Salute to Los Angeles
celebrating Independence Day, Los Angeles history, the
people of Los Angeles and cultural diversity. We seek to
unite the people in the biggest event in Los Angeles.
